Dorothy Harris
Dorothy was born in Raymore, Saskatchewan during the Great Depression and graduated from high school in 1950. She moved to Edmonton and began her career in the oil industry as an accountant for Peter Kiss Oilfield Contractors in 1968.
In 1975, Dorothy moved on to new opportunities with the accounting department of Import Tool Corporation. Dorothy's skills were not restricted to accounting, she attended many oil shows and exhibitions displaying her knowledge of oilfield construction, downhole equipment and environmental products. For many, Dorothy was Import Tools through the 70s and 80s.
Over the years, Dorothy has worked tirelessly as a member of many groups and organizations. She has been involved with the International Oilmen's Golf Tournament, the International Oilmen's Bonspiel and the Edmonton Oilfield Technical Society for many years.
Dorothy's volunteer work includes the United Way Appeal, Millwood's Breakfast Lions Club and the Harvey DeCock Society for the Physically Challenged. In recognition of her many achievements in the industry, Dorothy was named Canadian Oilwoman of the Year in 1986.
